Ragga metal ladies & gents!

Okay, the time to officially celebrate black music has passed because it's now July.

But fuck you, all music is "black". I said it, just something else the man stole from my people & made it vanilla. And now what do you think of when you hear black music? Don't lie, I know you just had a flash of Lil Wayne and/or T-Pain Lil Jon MC Hammer. Or your favorite jazz or blues musician (insert). It's okay because that's what you've been fed & told. The good thing for you though, is, you're not wrong on either account.

Anyway, there was a reason I chose mostly to do black rawk 'n rowl musicians during that short tenure, a reason I haven't told you yet but I will sometime before the damn year is out. In any case, I was feeling sentimental this morning and thought we'd start off July with Skindred.

I first heard of Skindred many moons ago when I caught one of their vids on FUSE early in the morning. At first glance it actually sounded pretty awesome, like POD (don't laugh at me) grew some balls & took a breather in the less well-to-do parts of the Bahamas. I also couldn't understand a damn thing the singer was saying.

I looked over and saw some white guys in their Castro hats and thought, "Zut alors, I've been tricked again! It's some white dudes doing reggae doing meta doing reggae. And...wtf black women booty dancing, et tu?"

Well as it turns out, they have a black singer and the whole band hais from Wales. After I picked up the pieces of my face, my faith was partially restored.

That song was Nobody & you may have heard it. The song I'm giving you today is called Trouble.

Don't big up yourself and gworn like you're a big timer

Tell this fool in my face I don't need enemies so I'm asking you to move back a little,
Why you bigging up your chest and you're thinking that you're tough
Don't you know that every bone is brittle?
Everything will be fine if you just cool out yourself and don't do no crime
Now I'm asking you to move mate! Step it back a little, step back a little

Warning
Explosive exhibition of brutality
Explosive exhibition of

Trouble's what you want then you're gunner get it
Trouble's what you seek do you really need it?
Trouble's what you want then you're gunner get it
Trouble's what you need then you will receive it

Don't big up yourself and gworn like you're a big timer

Why so close up to me, dangerous place to be and you're rocking halitosis a little
Do you think I wear a vest, putting me to the test?
You're gunner get yourself in a pickle
Now you're over the line! Something's ticking and yoot man you're out of time
Now you're taking the piss mate!

Well how long dem ah try come and try test we out
We came fe warn dem yes we come fe warn dem
Well how lond de baldhead boy dem ah try test we out
We come fe warn dem yes we come fe warn dem

Explosive

Why so close up to me dangerous place to be
I don't wanner make war on no enemies
Why you bigging up your chest and you're thinking that you're rough
Explosive brutality

Trouble's what you want then you're gunner get it
Trouble's what you seek do you really need it?
Trouble's what you want then you're gunner get it
Trouble's what you seek do you really need it?
